Search Engine Marketing Helps a Good Deal in Net Marketing and Advertising

The goal of search engine marketing, (SEM) is to increase the visibility of websites in search engine results pages (SERPs) by means of paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion. Paid placement involves making payments to Google or Yahoo in order to place advertising in a prominent position on page 1 of the search results. The system scans the text of the website for keywords and returns advertisements to the webpage based on what the user is viewing. Contextual advertising is also used to display advertisements on search results pages based on the keywords in the user’s query.

With paid inclusion programs, the payment guarantees a listing on the search pages for the website, but typically there will be no guarantee that the pages will rank well for a particular query. That will depend on the search engine algorithms.
