Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
The first part of the URL (http://) is identified as the protocol that is used to find the file or resource on the Internet. You can consider ‘protocol’ as standardized language for communication among machines across a network. The full form of ‘HTTP’ is “Hyper Text Transfer Protocol.” The following part is identified as domain. Normally, there are three sections within a domain: WWW is known as World Wide Web, its use is customary. The following part is the domain’s title; and the final part consists of the designation extension, it refers the type of website (whether it is business based or educational) and the next part suggests the geographical location where your hosting server is located. A webmaster can have several sub-domains in a single domain. The following part of the URL is the path to the destination webpage. More or less, a URL is the pointer to a specific file or resource on that server. URLs can point to CGI, Java programs, graphic files and flash pages; these URLs are called as dynamic URLs.
